Knight’s Second Half Effort Wins Game

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Rosemont College women's basketball team played a determined game against the visiting Arcadia University Knights at Alumnae Hall in a non-conference game this afternoon. Winning the first half by five points, the Knights bent but would not break as the Raven's second-half comeback bid was ultimately turned away by the Knights, resulting in an 80-75 win for Arcadia. The loss placed Rosemont's record at 1-4 (1-0 CSAC) while the win was Arcadia's fourth straight (4-2).

The first half was not for the weak, as the teams traded leads 10 times and were tied four times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points until the Ravens, trailing 29-27 with 7:58 to go in the half put together a 12-1 run to take a 39-30 lead with 3:35 left in the half. The Knights chipped away at the lead but the Ravens retained a five-point (43-38) advantage going into the break.

Still trailing 46-41 to Rosemont, Arcadia scored the next six points to wrestle back a 47-46 lead with 16 minutes left. The Knights opened up the gap, but were never too far from Rosemont, who would stay in touch the entire second half. The Knights took a 9-point lead, their largest of the game, 63-54 with 10:47 to play, but Rosemont had a rally in them. In inside jumper from Dom Sellers ended a Ravens' 12-3 rally to tie the score at 66-66 with 6:53 left.

Unfortunately for the home side, Arcadia would string together six straight points. The Ravens would get back to within 3 points of the lead down the stretch, but the Knights won the end game at the foul line to account for the final result.

Liz Coyne led the Ravens in scoring with 17 points. She also pulled down seven boards. Nymira Nelson (12) and Dominique Sellers (10) also scored in double-figures for the Ravens. Carly Hislop had nine points and led the Ravens with 9 rebounds.

For Arcadia, Maureen Fiocca led the Knights with 24 points. Valerie Dimuro (20), Megan Fox (11) and Addy Crenny (11) hit double-digits on the scoreboard for Arcadia. Crenny and Dimuro each had 9 rebounds to lead Arcadia.
