ROSEMONT – The visiting Delaware Valley College Aggies opened up tonight's non-conference game with a 9-2 advantage to start tonight's game and held the Ravens at arm's length throughout, defeating Rosemont wire-to-wire in an 80-69 final. The Ravens fell to 2-7 overall with the result and the Aggies moved to 3-6 overall on their season.
After the opening 9-2 spurt the Aggies extended their lead, but to no more than single-digits until 9:16 was left in the first half when a layup by Eireann Anastasi put Delaware Valley up 30-19. The Aggies would open up their lead to 34-21 with 6:55 left in the half and went into the break with a 43-33 advantage.
A trey from Dominique Sellers would cut that deficit to 43-36 to open the second half. The Ravens would work hard, but could get no closer than six points from Delaware Valley (56-50 with 13:17 remaining) the rest of the game. The Aggies led by as many as 16 points (70-54) with 7:49 left thanks to a 14-4 Aggies streak.
For the Ravens, the current CSAC Player-of-the-Week, Liz Coyne, put up her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 19 points with 16 boards. The 16 rebounds propelled Coyne past Ashley Montecchio for the most career rebounds for a Rosemont player. Her career rebound count now stands at 917, surpassing the former record of 907.
Leilani Naone-Carter and Nymira Nelson each tallied 10 for the home side.
The Aggies had four players in double-figures led by Eireann Anasasi's 17 points. Brenna Coll (16), Agatha Drozd (13) and Brittany Wood (12) were the other Aggies in double-figures.
The Ravens have completed the 2014 portion of their season and will return to play in three weeks when they host Rutgers-Camden in a non-conference game on Monday, 1/5/2015 at 7:00pm.
