ROSEMONT – The Rosemont College women's basketball team (7-9) had little problem dispatching the visiting Bryn Mawr Owls (1-11) this evening, taking the lead at the start and winning this one going away by a final score of 85-35. The win was the team's fourth straight victory.
Coming into the game, senior captain Liz Coyne needed 15 rebounds to give her 1,000 rebounds in her career. She grabbed 13 rebounds in the first half. With 14:50 left in the 2nd half she would get her hands on an offensive rebound that represented her 1,000th career rebound.
The Ravens opened up the game with a 15-0 run and quickly extended their lead as the game went on. Rosemont led by a game-high 45 points late in the first half, which ended with Rosemont ahead 59-14. The team shot 56% from the floor compared to the Owls 15%. The Ravens ran an offense designed to run down the clock in the second half resulting in fewer scoring opportunities, but the Ravens outscored Bryn Mawr 26-21 in the second frame.
In addition to her 15 rebounds, Coyne shot 10-for-17 from the field and scored 23 points for her 10th double-double of the season. Dominique Sellers shot 3-for-6 from downtown and was the other Raven in double-figures with 13 points. Jasmyn Parker had seven assists to lead Rosemont while Brianna Macauley had 10 boards for the home side.
The Owls were led by Sanam Sheriff who scored 12 points, shooting 4-for-8 from outside the arc.
The last time the Ravens won at least four straight games was when they strung together a string of seven consecutive victories between 1/23/2013 and 2/11/2013.
The Ravens return to CSAC action on Saturday when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy to face the Griffins. The game is scheduled for a 2:00pm start.
