ROSEMONT – The Rosemont College women's volleyball squad dropped a pair of CSAC matches today. With the results, the Ravens are now 1-18 (1-8 CSAC) for the season.
In the first match the Ravens pushed the visiting Summit University Defenders to the edge, but the Defenders won out in four sets by scores of 25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20).
Morgan Rollins and Nadirah Anderson proved to be troublesome for Summit, claiming 13 and 12 kills respectively to lead the Ravens. Leilani Carter and Maria Athanasiadis were key on defense, with 16 and 14 kills respectively. Carter had two blocks and Anderson had one. Sabrina Heggan continued her march to set the Rosemont single-season record in assists with 34 in the match.
In the second match of the day for the Ravens, the Gators of Notre Dame won in straight sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-18). In this match, Anderson and Rollins each were credited with six saves. The Ravens had four blocks, led by a pair from Carter. Sabrina Heggan's 15 assists puts her only one shy of the Rosemont single-season record set last season by Lexy Mrongowius.
In today's second match, Notre Dame claimed a 3-0 win over Summit.
Next up for the Ravens is a CSAC contest at Neumann University on Thursday, 10/22. The game is scheduled for a 5:00pm start.
