Ravens Fall Short at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Rosemont women's volleyball squad came out on the short side of both of their matches played at Delaware Valley University today, losing to William Paterson University and Delaware Valley by 3-0 set scores.

Match 1 – Rosemont vs. William Paterson

The Ravens were defeated by set scores of 7-25, 13-25, 14-25.

In the first set, William Paterson took an 18-2 lead and cruised to victory. In the second set the Ravens rallied to start off with a 7-1 lead, but William Paterson would go on an eight-point rally to take the lead and win out from that point. In the third set the two teams were tied 4-4, but William Paterson would score seven of the next eight points to streak ahead to the win.

Morgan Rollins had a strong game on the front line with 11 kills and one block. Leilani Carter led the Ravens with 10 digs, while Nadirah Anderson also contributed eight digs to the Rosemont effort. Sabrina Heggan had 17 assists in the contest.

Match 2 – Rosemont vs. Delaware Valley

Host Delaware Valley won the match by set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-11.

In set #1, the Ravens fell behind 15-6, but rallied to get to within three points of the Aggies at 22-19. DelVal was able to win three of the final four points to claim the set. The two teams were tied 9-9 in the second set, but the Aggies would win eight of the next 10 points to take a 19-11 lead, from which the Ravens would not overcome. DelVal opened the third set by winning 17 of the first 22 points and the Ravens would not be able to make up the difference.

Morgan Rollins had nine kills and a block in the contest, while Nadirah Anderson had seven kills.

With the result of the matches the Ravens now have an overall record of 1-21. Rosemont will wind up their season next week with a CSAC match vs. Cairn University on Wednesday at 7:00pm. On Saturday the Ravens will close out their season by hosting a tri-match with Hood College and The City College of New York on Saturday, 10/31.
