GLENSIDE - The Rosemont women's basketball team continued its rough start to the season shooting 16.9% en route to a 63-38 loss to the Arcadia Knights on Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Ravens start the season 0-3 for the second year in a row. With the result Arcadia pickedup their first win of the year and improved to 1-2.
The Ravens played each quarter relatively tightly except for their slow start in the first quarter of the game where they were outscored 16-6. For the first eight minutes of the game the Ravens were held scoreless as the Knights started the game on a 13-0 run. The scoreless run for Rosemont ended with a 3-pointer for Ayanna Thompson with 1:25 left in the opening quarter. Each team would add another three-point basket to end the quarter.
To start the second quarter the Ravens started off 4-0 on baskets by Leilani Naone-Carter and Ayanna Thompson to close the lead to 16-10 and that would be the closest that Rosemont would get as Arcadia would take a 15 point lead to the half.
In the second half Rosemont would be outscored by eight points in the third and by two in the fourth to close out the game.
The Ravens were led offensively by a double-double from Leilani Naone-Carter scoring 10 points and adding 11 rebounds. Point guard Ayanna Thompson was the only other Raven in double figures chipping in with 11 points, as well as three steals on the defensive end.
Arcadia was led by a double-double of their own from Valerie Dimuro with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Also in double figures for the Knights was Maureen Fiocca who scored 19 on the day including 6-8 from the foul line.
Rosemont will continue their non-conference schedule on Tuesday when they make the trip north to Doylestown. The Ravens look to end a two-game losing streak to the Delaware Valley University Aggies.Tip-off set for 7pm at James Work Gymnasium.
