Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rosemont Beats Gators for 2nd Straight Win

BALTIMORE – A Dominique Sellers trey to open the scoring ensured that the visiting Rosemont Ravens women's basketball team (9-11, 5-6 CSAC) would stay in front of the Notre Dame of Maryland University Gators  (5-15, 2-10 CSAC) for the entire game tonight. Rosemont dominated late in the first half and outscored the Gators 43-21 in the first frame, adding another nine points to their advantage in the second half to claim the 77-43 win.

A bucket by NDMU after 4:13 pulled NDMU to within a point at 5-4, but the Ravens reeled off a 15-4 advantage to grab a 20-8 lead with 10:25 left in the first. Up by nine points, 30-21 with 3:54 in the first half the Ravens turned on the turbo jets to pull away from NDMU, outscoring the home side 13-0 to end the half.

In the second half the Ravens were able to stretch their lead to 35 points after a Jasmyn Parker jumper put them ahead 75-40, accounting for their largest lead of the evening with only 2:44 left on the clock.

Liz Coyne led all scorers on the night with 19 points and she pulled in seven rebounds. Leilani Naone-Carter was a force in the paint with 13 boards to lead both teams.

Dominique Sellers (15) and Nymira Nelson (14) were the other double-digit scorers for the Ravens. Sellers also had six steals in the game.

The Gators were led by Allyson Whitacre who scored nine points.

Rosemont will stay on the road for their second of three straight games when they face Baptist Bible on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.
