Ravens Come Up Short Against Knights

Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter Leads Group of Four Scoring Double-Digits

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The visiting Arcadia Knights defeated the Rosemont Ravens in women's basketball this afternoon by a final score of 83-69. Today's non-conference game featured two teams that needed a win to start to get their season turned around. The Knights had lost their last five games, while the Ravens were trying to right the ship after losing their last six after a season-opening win.

With the result, the Ravens fell to 1-7 on the season while Arcadia improved to 4-6.

The game started off well for the Ravens, who opened up with an 8-2 lead on two treys from Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter and a layup from Jasmyn Parker in the game's first 1½ minutes. The Knights bounced back with an eight-point run to knot the score at 8-8, and the teams remained tied with 2:50 left in the first quarter. Arcadia made their mark over the remaining time of the quarter, going on a 7-0 run to take a 23-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Rosemont came out strong to start the second period, creeping to within a point, 23-22 after a Leilani Naone-Carter layup made it six straight Ravens points. Still trailing 31-28, a three-point play from K. Naone-Carter  and a three-ball from Ayanna Thompson gave Rosemont a 34-31 lead with 2:47 left in the half. But Arcadia responded with a six-point run after a Maureen Fiocca trey to put the Knights back in front, 37-34 with 1:34 left. The Ravens would score the last three points of the half to tie the game 37-37 to end the half.

The Knights opened up the game in the 3rd quarter by outscoring Rosemont 19-5 to open up a 56-42 lead with 3:05 left in the quarter. The Ravens climbed back to within eight points after a Shirle Brown jumper with 21 seconds left in the quarter, but the Knights would go on an 11-point tear to open up a 19-point lead with 6:33 left in the contest, and the Ravens would not be able to mount an effective comeback from that point.

Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter led the Ravens with 21 points, just missing a double-double with nine boards. Jasmyn Parker and Ayanna Thompson each scored 13, while Shirle Brown added 10 to account for the Ravens who reached double-digits in points today. Leilani Naone-Carter was strong underneath, grabbing nine rebounds.

For Arcadia, Maureen Fiocca led the Knights with 25 points. Teammate Sammy Downham added 15, while Olivia Roseman and Imani Alston each scored 11.

The Ravens will next hit the hardwood on Wednesday, 12/28, when they travel to Williamsport, Pa. to face William Peterson University at Lycoming College in the opening round of the Hoops for Hounds Classic. The game is scheduled for a 7pm tip-off.
