Ravens Fall To Terriers In Hoops 4 Hounds Consolation

WILLIAMSPORT – The Rosemont Ravens Women's basketball team fought hard but never led as they dropped the Hoops 4 Hounds Consolation game to the Hiram College Terriers by a final of 83-71. With the loss, the Ravens fall to 1-9. While the Terriers improve to 11-3.

Over the first 2:53 of the game Rosemont found themselves in an early 8-2 hole. A 3-pointer by Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter pulled the Ravens to 8-5 with 6:17 in the quarter. That would be as close as they could get, as the Terriers would outscore the Ravens 14-6 for the rest of the frame making it 22-11 after one.

Hiram started the second out strong with a 6-2 run taking the score up to 28-13 with 8:03 to go. A jumper by Ayanna Thompson seemed to spark the Ravens, as they went on a 13-4 run capped off by two free throws from Xiomara Colon closing the gap to six at 32-26 with 3:44 in the half. The Terriers however reasserted themselves closing the half on a 12-2 run making it 44-28 heading into the locker room.

The third quarter went back and forth with neither team making a big run. A free throw by Thompson with 2:06 left got the Ravens to within 10 at 53-43. Hiram would score the final four points of the frame to make it 57-43 at the end of three.

Four minutes into the final frame the Ravens found themselves down 17, as a 15-8 Terrier run made the score 68-51. A Savana Lowery 3-pointer equaled Hiram's largest lead of the night at 19 with 28 seconds to go. Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter would then go on a 7-0 run herself finishing it off with a buzzer-beating three making the final score 83-71.

Three Rosemont players hit double figures in scoring led by Freshman Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter who finished with 24 points. Her sister Leilani Naone-Carter chipped in with 16 points and was also the Ravens lone representative on the All-Tournament Team. Jasmyn Parker was the other one scoring 10 points in 23 minutes before fouling out.

The stats of the game were the Terriers dominating the glass outrebounding the Ravens 46-30, including 26-9 on the offensive end. This led to 23 Hiram second chance points, while Rosemont got only 9. The Terriers also showed off their depth outscoring the Ravens 21-5 off the bench.

Rosemont will now take some time off and will return to action after the New Year on Tuesday the 3rd at 6pm as they host the Immaculata Mighty Macs in CSAC action. The men will follow immediately after at 8pm also against Immaculata.
