Ravens Fight Hard, But Can’t Hold Off Mighty Macs

Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter Posts 3rd Double Double In Conference Loss

ROSEMONT – The Rosemont Ravens Women's basketball team led early, but did not have enough in the second half to hold off the comeback from visiting Immaculata University, falling tonight by a final of 62-54. With the loss Rosemont drops to 1-10 on the season and 0-3 in CSAC play. The Mighty Macs leave the Main Line with their first win improving to 1-9 (1-1 CSAC).

The Ravens seemed poised to find their first win in conference play tonight as they came out strong. An early basket by Ayanna Thompson sparked an opening 6-2 run over the first 4:28 of the contest. Mamako Johnson's free throw got Immaculata to within one at 6-5 with 4:33 to go. A Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter layup and a Thompson three pointer book-ended a 10-1 run making it 16-6. Three Mighty Mac free throws finished the quarter with Rosemont up 16-9.

Immaculata found a rhythm to start the second, sprinting out to a 8-2 run pulling to within 18-17. Rosemont wrapped up the half on a 7-2 run taking a 25-19 lead to halftime and riding some much needed momentum.

The Mighty Macs left the locker room with a new energy as Amber Ballinger knocked down a three to cap off a 7-0 run giving Immaculata the lead at 26-25. A pair of foul shots by Kiley Stevens gave the Ravens their largest lead of the third quarter at 32-28 with 5:38 remaining. A 17-7 run through the rest of the stanza gave the Mighty Macs a 45-39 lead.

For the first six minutes of the fourth the teams went back and forth. A make at the charity stripe by Leilani Naone-Carter made the score 54-49, Immaculata. Unfortunately, for the Ravens, a jumper by Theresa Walsh started a 9-0 Mighty Macs run finished off by a Tamyra Laws layup to make the score to 62-49. Rosemont closed out the scoring with a jumper from Xiomara Colon and a three pointer by Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter. However, the Ravens would leave the Alumnae Hall court falling 62-54.

Rosemont was led by the third double-double from Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter who posted 27 points while collecting 14 rebounds. Her sister Leilani Naone-Carter added 11 points, including going 5-7 at the foul line. Point Guard Ayanna Thompson was the other Raven in double figures with 10.

The Ravens were out-rebounded by a 55-43 margin. Immaculata also held a 10-point edge in the paint outscoring Rosemont 28-18 in the colored area. Neither team shot particularly well from beyond the arc. With the Ravens going 5-29 (17.2%), to the Mighty Macs 1-15 (6.7%).
