Cyclones Hot Shooting Dooms Ravens

Ravens Have Four Players Hit Double Figures, But Not Enough To Get Past Centenary

ROSEMONT– The Rosemont Ravens Women's basketball team had four players get into double-digits in scoring, but the visiting Centenary University Cyclones shot an impressive 48.8% from the floor to get past the home team, 92-75 on Women's Basketball Alumni Day. With the loss, Rosemont falls back to 6-17 (4-10 CSAC), and the Cyclones improved to 18-5 (11-3 CSAC).

Centenary forward Melissa Rabe came out to start the game hot, as she scored all eight points in Centenary's 8-3 run with the only Rosemont basket coming from a Jasmyn Parker three. A layup by Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter closed off an 8-1 Ravens push, edging the birds back in front by an 11-9 score. With Rosemont in front 13-12 with 4:49 to play in the first, the Cyclones ripped off 11 of the next 13 points to jut in front 23-15. Brianna Reith hit back-to-back jumpers in a 26-second span to close the gap to 23-19, but Centenary's Nicole Cartaino converted an old-fashioned three-point play to end the first with the Cyclones in front 26-19.

Leilani Naone-Carted scored the Ravens' first four points of the second, cutting the deficit to 28-23, 2:10 into the frame. For the next two minutes, Centenary would take over, going on an 11-2 run and taking a 39-25 lead. Rosemont picked up the final nine points of the quarter culminating in a Jasmyn Parker triple to head to the locker room down 45-36.

In the opening three minutes of the third, the Cyclones started to assert their dominance in the game, as they went on a 12-2 sprint coming out of the half, taking their lead to 57-38. Three-pointers by Jasmyn Parker and Kiley Stevens got the Ravens to within 61-47 with 4:51 to go. The rest of the segment saw the teams trade baskets up and down the floor. A bucket by Centenary's Alexis Wilson capped off the scoring in the quarter, and Rosemont went to the final stanza trailing 73-58.

A Mallory George layup 2:28 into the fourth gave the Cyclones their largest lead of the game at 82-62. After that, the Ravens made a bit of a push going on an 11-2 flight, getting back to 84-73 with 3:40 left. Another George basket kick-started Centenary to an 8-2 run, to leave the Main Line victorious 92-75.

Rosemont was led by four players in double figures. Leilani Naone-Carter picked up her fifth double-double of the season, netting 14 and grabbing 10 rebounds. Guards Jasmyn Parker (22), Shirle Brown (12) and Kiley Stevens (10) were the other Ravens to hit double digits.
