Ravens Spoil Senior Night For Mighty Macs

Naone-Carter Sisters Each Post Double-Double In Final Road Game Of The Season

MALVERN– The Rosemont Ravens Women's basketball team ruined Senior Night for the host Immaculata University two seniors by a final of 65-61. Sisters Leilani and Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter each finished with a double-double on their final road game of the year. With the win the Ravens improved to 7-17 (5-10 CSAC), while the Mighty Macs fell to 8-16 (8-7 CSAC).    

Just a little over one minute into the game Theresa Walsh got Immaculata on top 2-0, but that was short live as Leilani Naone-Carter and Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter each responded with a layup to get Rosemont up 4-2. The Mighty Macs came back quick scoring the next four points to take a 6-4 lead with 6:46 left. A basket by Shirle Brown and two free throws by Jasmyn Parker gave the Ravens an 8-6 edge. A layup by Walsh sent Immaculata on a 6-0 run to put them up 12-8, 7:46 into the first. A triple by the Mighty Macs Gina Cocci wrapped up the scoring for the frame with Immaculata leading 15-9.

The Naone-Carter sisters would once again come out strong to open the second as they combined to score six of the first nine points cutting the deficit to 18-15 with 8:04 to go in the half. A Kiley Stevens jumper sparked the Ravens on an 11-2 run to pull the birds in front 26-20, 6:58 into the quarter. The Mighty Macs outscored the Ravens 7-4 the remainder of the half, to head to the locker room trailing 30-27.

For the first 4:08 of the third period Rosemont and Immaculata went back-and-forth, trading baskets with a bucket from the Mighty Macs Bailey Krewson cutting the Ravens lead to one at, 35-34. A solo shot from the charity stripe by Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter led to a 10-2 Rosemont run that was finished off by another Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter free throw, which gave the Ravens a 45-36 lead with 4:01 to go. Immaculata edged Rosemont 6-5 for the rest of the segment to head to the fourth down 50-42.

A Shirle Brown layup 4:23 into the fourth put the Ravens in front 56-47. The Mighty Macs did not go quietly as they embarked on a 13-6 push finished off by a Tamyra Laws bucket with 35 seconds left, pulling Immaculata to within one at 62-61. A Shirle Brown duce and an Ayanna Thompson foul shot wrapped up the scoring for the night, and Rosemont left Route 202 with a 65-61 triumph.

Rosemont was led by the Naone-Carter sisters who each posted a double-double. Freshman Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter registered her tenth of the season finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Leilani Naone-Carter recorded her sixth of the year adding 16 and 13 boards. Shirle Brown contributed 10 to the win as well.

Immaculata was led by two double-doubles of their own. Tamyra Laws ended her Senior Night with 19 points and a game-high 21 rebounds. Theresa Walsh picked up 15 and 10 boards.

Rosemont won this game shooting 23-69 (33.3%) from the floor despite going 1-13 (7.7%) beyond the arc. Immaculata went 22-70 (31.4%), and 4-11 (36.4%) from deep. The Ravens won the foul line battle going 18-27 (66.7%), while the Mighty Macs were 13-20 (65%). Rosemont also continues to hold on to the ball better committing only 12 turnovers to Immaculata's 20.

As Rosemont, will not qualify for the CSAC Playoffs, their final game of the season will be on Saturday afternoon as they host Clarks Summit University at Alumnae Hall. Tip-off between the Ravens and the Defenders is set for 1pm. The Senior Day Men's game will follow at around 3pm.
