Lohi Breaks Single-Game Scoring Record In Win Over Giants

Ravens Win Season-High 3rd in a Row Helped by Freshman’s Record Setting Day

LA PLUME–    Freshman Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter scored a program record 46 points this afternoon to help the Rosemont Women's Basketball team to a 77-57 win on the road over the host Keystone College Giants. The 46 put up by Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter breaks the all-time Rosemont single-game record which was held by Assistant Coach Ashley Montecchio who hit 40 twice during the 2012-2013 season (1/7 vs Delaware Valley, 1/26 vs Gwynedd Mercy). With the win the Ravens have now won a season-best three in a row and improve to 6-15 (4-8 CSAC), while the Giants fall to 5-16 (4-8 CSAC).

Rosemont came out of the gate flying high, opening up on a 10-3 run that started with a Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter layup and finished with the same exact play four minutes later. A Dyjae Williams layup halfway through the first cut the lead to 10-8. A Jasmyn Parker jumper started a 7-2 Ravens rally finished again by Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter that made the score 17-10. Keystone went on a quick 5-2 sprint to wrap up quarter number one trailing the Ravens, 20-15.

Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter scored nine of Rosemont's first eleven points of the second, pulling them ahead, 31-19. Then, over a three-minute span starting at the 5:20 mark, the Giants responded embarking on a 18-0 push to take a 37-31 lead. Kiley Stevens stopped the scoreless streak with a
bucket of her own. For the rest of the frame the Ravens outscored the Giants seven to four taking a 41-38 deficit to the locker room.

Brittany Sugalski scored a layup 2:32 into the third, moving the Giants lead to 43-38. Shirle Brown answered back 13 seconds later to start a 14-1 Ravens run capped off by a triple from Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter that gave Rosemont a 52-44 lead with 4:26 to go. A Nina Hodanich long range bucket slowed the Ravens down for a moment, pulling the lead back to 52-47. Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter picked up the next seven Rosemont points only halted by a Hodanich foul shot, running the Ravens' lead to 59-48 still with 2:40 to play. The final five Rosemont points of the segment came at the charity stripe; one from Nia Reed and four from Leilani Naone-Carter, and after the period the Ravens were ahead, 64-53.

For the first 1:10 of the fourth there were a total of six points scored between the two teams. Four by Rosemont and only two from the Giants. Another Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter make in the paint sparked a 9-2 flight to wrap up the contest and the Ravens left victorious, 77-57.

Rosemont was led by Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter who posted her ninth double-double of the season, scoring a career and season high 46 while pulling down 10 rebounds. The 18 makes from the floor also surpassed the program record for makes in a game which was 16 set in 2000 by Ekaterina Markova. Jasmyn Parker was the other Raven in double figures, picking up 11. Shirle Brown ripped down a team-high 11 rebounds and chipped in four points.

Keystone was led by Nina Hodanich who registered a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Rosemont shooting was just better overall today, hitting 28-64 (43.8%) from the floor, while Keystone was 23-64 (35.9%). The Ravens also made the charity stripe a friend today going 17-22 (77.3%), while the Giants were only 6-10 (60%). Keystone turned the ball over 25 times leading to 28 Rosemont points, and 16 Raven turnovers led to only nine for the Giants. The Ravens took care of business in the painted area around the hoop, scoring 47 compared to Keystone's 30.

Rosemont will look to push the win streak to four on Wednesday night when they host Neumann University as part of a men's and women's doubleheader. Tip-off between the Ravens and the Knights is set for 6pm. The men's game featuring Rosemont and nationally-ranked Neumann is scheduled for 8pm. Get there early as it is sure to be another Packed House!!!
