Hot shooting helps Ravens down Misericordia

Five Rosemont players end up in double figures

ROSEMONT - Finally playing their first game at home sweet home seemed to agree with the Rosemont men's basketball team, who came out hot and never looked back en route to an 87-73 win over Misericordia Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game.

The Ravens (3-5 overall) came to play, jumping out to an  huge early lead and never relinquishing it in a game that they lead from wire to wire.


TURNING POINT:
The first 10 minutes of the game was a clinic on the offense's firepower. Rosemont shot 11 for 13 from the floor to start the game and jumped to a 31-15 lead midway through the first half on the Cougars, who were the MAC's representattive in the NCAA Tournament over the last two seasons. Basil Thompson had 10 points early before having to leave the game towards the end of the first half with an injury.

FROM THE BOXSCORE:
- Jalil Myers had 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds while contributing three assists along the way. It is the sixth time in eight games that Myers has scored in double figures. 

- Jacob Simonson added 17 points coming off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor.

- Keith Blassingale also added 17 points for the Ravens on 7 of 13 shooting from the floor. Blassingale also contributed four of Rosemont's 13 steals on the afternoon.

- Marlon Sharpton scored 13 points on 4 of 6 shooting to become the fifth Ravens player in double figures.

- The Ravens forced 21 turnover on the game, contributing to 23 points off turnovers. They also had a 28-7 advantage in fast break points and a 30-18 edge inside the paint.

- Stone McCreary had 14 points while Jason Kenny added 13 in the losing cause of Misericordia.

UP NEXT:

The Ravens will journey inside the world of Division I on Wednesday night when they travel to Lafayette to take on the Leopards in Bethlehem. Game time is schedule for 7 p.m.
