ROSEMONT, Pa. -- Better late than never.
After struggling for three quarters against Cairn's pesky defensive attack, Rosemont's women's basketball team decided to use their final 10 minutes of the home season to get themselves ready for the playoffs ahead.
After trailing by five entering the final quarter, Rosemont sprinted to a 35-13 edge in the fourth quarter to roll to 79-64 win over the Highlanders Wednesday night on Senior Night at Alumnae Hall.
Rosemont finishes the regular season at 15-10 overall and 9-7 within CSAC play. They will begin the playoffs on Monday night on the road at either Neumann, Gwynedd-Mercy or Marywood, depending on how things shake out during the final day of the regular season on Saturday afternoon.
The Ravens were lead by
Leilani Naone-Carter, who scored a team high 16 points. Twelve of those points came during the second half when Rosemont finally was able to generate a huge defensive press and get it to turn into easy buckets. Rosemont forced nine steals in the second half on Wednesday night.
Her sister,
Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter, and Kyra Lewis each scored 13 while
Shawn Dowd added 12 for the Rosemont comeback effort.
Payton Emmrick scored a game-high 17 points for Cairn.
