Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Kevin Cooney

Just Grand: Naone-Carter tops 1,000 as Ravens pull away from Keystone

ROSEMONT - The balloons were ready. The 30 or so family members filled the side stands. The anticipation was in the air.

And for Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter, her 1,000th career point was something that helped meet the magnitude of the moment. And it also proved to be a big point for Rosemont's women's basketball team, who shook off some shooting struggles before pulling away late to post a 86-69 win over Keystone College Saturday afternoon before a jammed packed house at Alumnae Hall.

That's 11 straight wins for the Ravens and 16-3 overall, who are now 10-0 within CSAC play and carries a 4 1/2 game lead over the second place Giants with six games left in the CSAC schedule. They are now one win shy of the single season record for wins in a season of 17, set by the 2012-13 squad.

KEY MOMENT: Naone-Carter- a junior forward and three-year starter-  became the 10th member of the Rosemont basketball family to surpass the 1,000 point mark. Her teammate, Jasmyn Parker, was the last two accomplish the mark on Jan. 27, 2018.

Naone-Carter broke the mark with a 3-pointer taken with just over one minute left in a first half where the Ravens struggled to pull away from the Giants,  It allowed the Ravens to break a 37-37 tie and eventually grab a 42-37 cushion going into the locker room.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

- In the end, the Ravens put the game away in the fourth quarter.  It was an 11 for 19 shooting performance in the final 10 minutes that broke open a tie game and kickstarted a 24-7 run that eventually would put the Giants away for the afternoon.

-  Naone-Carter had 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals on Saturday.  It's the fourth time in the last five games that she has scored in double figures.

- Ashley Murray had 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds along the way with two blocks. Murray has now had five games with over 20 points and double figures in rebounds.

- Shawn Dowd had her second straight game of 15 points.  She also had seven rebounds and two blocked shots along with three steals.

- Jayme Byers had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a reserve role off the bench.

UP NEXT:  The Ravens travel to Bryn Athyn on Wednesday night to take on the Lions where they can tie the school record for wins in a season.
