Rosemont, PA- The men's basketball team took on the Black Squirrels of Haverford College on Wednesday night and lost 79-74.
The Ravens came out aggressive in the first half, and forced Haverford College to commit 11 turnovers. Rosemont shot 42% from the field in the first half. Rosemont trailed 21-17, before going on a 21-8 run to take the lead. Rosemont led 40-33 at halftime.
It was a tale of two halves, as Haverford came out strong in the second half and took the lead. Rosemont led by seven with 11:19 left in the game, before Haverford went on a 23-9 run.
Rosemont would battle back in the last two minutes, and they trailed 74-72 with 17 seconds left. Haverford would make both their free throws to extend their lead to 76-72. Sharpton made a quick jumper to cut the lead to 76-74 with 11 seconds left. After a quick foul, Haverford would make both of their free throws to make it a 78-74 lead. Haverford shot 23-26 from the free throw line, including clutch free throws down the stretch, which was the difference in the game.
Marlon Sharpton led the team with 21 points. It was a team effort as all 10 players for Rosemont scored. Rosemont forced Haverford College to commit 17 turnovers on the game. Rosemont shot 43.5% from the field, but rebounding was a key factor in the game as they were out rebounded 44-27.
