Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Kevin Cooney

Ravens keep momentum going with win over Centenary

ROSEMONT - It is always the best thing to do. It is something that every team should dream about.

For Rosemont's men's basketball team, it is what is happening in the present. The Ravens are clearly playing their best basketball of the season right as the post-season gets ready to arrive.

The Ravens earned no worse than a three-seed in the upcoming CSAC Tournament on Wednesday as Keith Blassingale scored 30 points to lead Rosemont to a 83-76 win over Centenary in a thrilling Colonial States Athletic Conference contest on Senior Night at Alumnae Hall.

Five wins in a row and seven out of the last eight allowed the Ravens to get back to .500 overall (12-12) and 7-4 within the CSAC.

Rosemont will face Wilson in the CSAC semifinals. That much is a given. The only question is where the game will be played. The Ravens could host if they should beat Bryn Athyn on Saturday and have Wilson fall at home to top-seed Cairn. (Cairn and Centenary are already locked in as the 1-4 contest next Wednesday night in Langhorne.) If Wilson should win, then the Ravens would head to Chambersburg for their opening round playoff contest.

KEY MOMENT: The Ravens won this game by closing strong, finishing the night on a 19-9 run after trailing 67-64 with 6:24 left to play in regulation. A Chris Briner jumper with 4:39 left gave Rosemont a 68-67 lead they would never relinquish. Six different Ravens would score in that stretch to help salt the game away.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS:

- Blassingale had 30 points. It is his season high in points. In two games against Centenary, Blassingale had 29.5 points per game average. He has now broken 20 points in three straight games and nine out of the previous 10.

- Jacob Simonson and Jalil Myers both had 10 points on their Senior Nights.

- Nick Gemmell had 10 points as well coming off the bench, including all four free throws coming down the stretch. As a team, the Ravens were 17 for 20 from the foul line.

- Rosemont was 5 for 9 from beyond the 3-point line in the second half after only connecting on 1 of 10 from distance in the first half.

UP NEXT: The Ravens will travel to Bryn Athyn for the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon with their playoff travel plans hanging in the balance. They will face Wilson next Wednesday in the CSAC Semifinals. The only question left is where will they play the Phoenix.
