ROSEMONT - There are a lot of milestone marks along the way in a special season.
And while ultimate perfection for the Rosemont women's team would involve another three wins, the final home game of the regular season was something to remember.
The Ravens were dominant from the start and never looked back during a 85-42 romp over Centenary to win their 16th straight game and improve to 21-3 on the regular season with just Saturday's season finale at Cedar Crest standing in the way of a perfect CSAC season.
THE BIG MOMENT: From a sentimental point of view, it was an assists by
Ayanna Thompson to
Ashley Murray in the first two minutes of Wednesday night's game. It was the 500th assists of Thompson's brilliant career, putting her in the rare territory of only six players in CSAC history that accomplished that mark.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
-
Jayme Byers had 18 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the floor. Byers has scored in double figures in five of the last six Rosemont games.
Â
-
Ka'Ryne Benson- one of four seniors honored in pre-game ceremonies on Wednesday- had 15 points.
-
Ashley Murray had 14 points and eight rebounds in only 21 minutes of action.
- Thompson had seven assists on the night.
-
Shirle Brown had 11 points off the bench.
UP NEXT: The regular season finale for the Ravens will see them head up the Northeast Extension to Allentown, where Cedar Crest awaits for a 1 p.m. contest. The next time that Rosemont will play at Alumnae Hall will be next Wednesday against an opponent to be determined in the CSAC semifinals.
