RAVENS FALL IN SEASON OPENER

WILKES-BARRE, PA-  It was a tough evening for the Ravens in their season opener as they were swept in a tri-match with the King's College Monarchs(9-25, 14-25, 4-25) and the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions(7-25, 14-25, 15-25).

In their first match-up, the Monarchs seemed too much for the Ravens to bear. The Ravens were down 0-6 to start the first set, until the 6-point streak was ended with a kill from Abigail Brooks, who tallied 4 kills in the match. Rosemont was able to put up a fight in the second set with two big blocks from Abigail Brooks and a couple of kills from senior, Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter. The third set proved to be difficult for the Ravens as they dropped the set with a score of 4-25.

In their second matchup of the day, the Ravens were able to keep their composure after a hard loss and put up a better fight against the Nittany Lions. Rosemont's Naone-Carter came alive in the match, leading her team with 7 kills, 7 digs, and an ace, but the strong performance was not enough to hold off the Nittany Lions. Junior captain Alyssa Springer tallied 11 assists iin the match.

Rosemont women's volleyball will return to action for their home opener on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7:00 pm as they face Gwynedd Mercy University.
