WVB SPLITS IN TRI-MATCH

ROSEMONT. PA- The Ravens hosted a tri-match against Cheyney University and Albright College on Friday evening. The Ravens showed a lot of improvement and were able to come away with a win against Cheyney 3-0 , but a loss to Albright College 3-0.

The first matchup for the Ravens was the Lions of Albright College. The Ravens were forced to take a timeout after being down 11-2 in the first set.  The Ravens were not able to come back and lost the set 25-6. They improved their play and hustle in the second set but ultimately fell short by a score of 25-14. Coach Jim Feeny gave a passionate speech to the Ravens between sets two and three and the Ravens came out looking like a different team. The Ravens were flying around and hustling to make plays. Even though they lost this set 25-21, this was one of the best sets the Ravens played all season. Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter led Rosemont with nine kills while Abigail Brooks had six. Alyssa Springer led the Ravens with 14 assists.

The Ravens carried the momentum from the last set of the Albright match into the second match against the Cheyney Wolves and won the first set 25-14. The Ravens communicated better than they did against Albright and this translated into points. The Ravens were able to keep up this play winning the next two sets by a score of 25-17 and 25-11. Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter shined for the Ravens once again with 16 kills while Abigail Brooks finished with nine. Alyssa Springer had an astounding 24 assists. The Ravens are back in action Tuesday, October 1 at 7:00pm when they head to Baltimore, Maryland to take on Goucher College.
