Rosemont, PA—Tuesday, September 21
st was a historical day at Rosemont College as Head Coach,
Ross Trachtenberg, held the college's first ever practice for the Raven's new Baseball Team.
"I am incredibly proud of our team completing its first practice. A year ago, Rosemont College Baseball did not exist" Trachtenberg said. "However, because of President Boyers and our former Athletic Director Joe Pavlow, our Baseball program is now a reality for 37 players. Seeing the players together for the first time was a result of a full Rosemont College team effort, including major levels of support from the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices".
The program is led by Coach Trachtenberg, Assistant Coaches, Zach Youngberg and James Martin, and Strength and Conditioning Coach, Jules Sopko. Sopko has been getting the team ready for practice using the TeamBuildr app to track the athletes' progress in regards to their personal strength and conditioning goals.
The Raven's Baseball Team is comprised of 37 student-athletes; all of whom are new to Rosemont College. Nick Tanella, the first player to commit to Rosemont to play baseball, says "Practice was a great first step towards what will be a great spring season. We have a great group of guys who all have one goal in mind and that's to win. I felt honored to be a part of the first ever baseball practice in school history and I look forward to seeing what this program accomplishes". From Brick Township Memorial High School in New Jersey, Tanella is a catcher and outfielder. Bobby DiDonato, from Williamstown High School in New Jersey, was the first recruit to visit Rosemont's campus last fall when deciding to join the Ravens inaugural Baseball Team, says "Practice was very good, high energy, and very well ran. Our team chemistry already feels like it's there and as soon as we get used to the routines of practice we will be firing on all cylinders". DiDonato is a catcher and a utility player.
The Rosemont College community is excited to watch this new program develop and can't wait to see the team's success in the Spring. The Ravens are currently practicing at Heuser Park in King of Prussia, where they will practice the next four weeks through the middle of October.
