On Friday, April 17, 2026, the Rosemont Ravens Baseball team took on the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions. The doubleheader was played at Heuser Park with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch for Game One. It was Lower Merion Little League Challenger Day at the ballpark for the Ravens as they welcomed the local team that they have had a great working relationship with over the course of the program's existence. Before Game One, to round out Rosemont College's Founders Week Celebration, the baseball program was honored for being the newest founding members of the institution. This also happened to be the only night game that the Ravens would be playing this season as well.
In Game One, senior pitcher Larson Greenlee took the mound for the Ravens against the Nittany Lions of Penn State. It was a very close game throughout as the Lions and Ravens battled it out for 7 innings. In the end, the Nittany Lions came out victorious 7-4. Lars would throw 6 2/3 innings, which was a career high for him, but it was not enough in the loss. Freshman Caiden Spinelli and Tahj Wilson paced the offense in Game One with two hits a piece.
In between Game One and Game Two, the Rosemont Baseball Program took time to interact with the Lower Merion Challenger Division Team who they have had a great relationship with over the years. These players had the opportunity to interact with the team and stand with them during the National Anthem and lineup introductions. One of the Challenger Players even sang the National Anthem. The Ravens players handed out personalized baseball cards to the Challenger players as well.
This was the final season for the Rosemont Baseball team and the last year of Athletics at Rosemont. Rosemont Baseball tried to make this last season of sports the best it possibly could be. This was the one of the 7 scheduled special event games for the team this season.
In Game Two, sophomore Solomon Denmark toed the rubber for Rosemont as they looked to go for the split against the Nittany Lions. He would go on to pitch 5 innings as the starter in this game. In game two, senior Ryan Bowman led the offense with three hits, and sophomore Joe Bentivegna had two hits and two RBI as well. The Ravens also had three stolen bases during this game. In the end, the game ended 7-5 as the Ravens came up short in both games against PSU Abington on Challenger Day.
Head Baseball Coach Ross Trachtenberg had this to say about the event: "Perhaps the most difficult part of the end of Rosemont Athletics is that we cannot continue these types of meaningful relationships as we have developed with Lower Merion Little League's Challenger Program.'' Senior Ryan Bowman said: "This was a great opportunity for us to give back to the community that has given us so much over the years. It was nice to do something as a thank you in return for all that they continue to do for us day in and day out''.
The Ravens worked hard on the field and continued that each week of the season. The Ravens finished the year with an 8-25 overall record. The 22 players along with the coaches and support staff have a lot to be proud of and have memories that will carry them through the rest of their lives.
Once A Raven, Always A Raven!!!!
