The Rosemont Ravens (3-5) took split a road double-header at Neumann University on Sunday,
March 12 th . Starting pitcher
Zachary Nutley (1-1) earned the win in the first game, going 5 strong
innings. He allowed just one earned run. Fellow sophomore
Vinny Mattio closed out the game
with two scoreless innings while earning the save, his first of the season.
Senior captains
Colin McCormick and
Dominic Fernicola each had three hits in the game, in
addition to a combined three RBI and three doubles. Four sophomores,
Luke Franklin,
Ethan Wood,
Derek Shillingsford, and
Brage Davis each had two hits a piece as the Ravens tallied
15 base hits in the game.
The Ravens got another strong starting pitcher performance in game two of the day from right-
hander
David McKinney. He went 4 innings, striking out three and surrendering just two runs.
The Ravens offense was able to get on the scoreboard first with two runs in the first inning, but
that was all the visiting team could manage in the nightcap.
Wood and Fernicola continued their stellar day at the plate with two hits apiece. Wood is leading the team with a .577 batting average
and Fernicola is now hitting .429, placing both in the top 10 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The Ravens next travel to Penn State York on Friday, March 17 th for a doubleheader. The team
takes to the road again on Saturday, March 18 th for a twin bill at Centenary University before
hosting its first game of the season at Heuser Park on Tuesday, March 21 st .
