Dear Members of the Rosemont Community,
I am happy to share with you that we will welcome Rich Casey as our new Athletic Director, effective April 11. I want to thank Kathleen DeLitta for serving in this role on an interim basis since the end of January. I also want to thank all our coaches and our student-athletes for your patience as we progressed through the interview process to identify our new director.
We had several top candidates for this key role, and what stood out to me most was Rich's 30 years of diversified leadership experience in athletic operations, coaching, and business operations throughout the Philadelphia area.
Rich currently serves as a consultant for RJC Consulting, a firm he established during the pandemic. He consults with city and federal municipalities in securing catering contracts, supervises procurements, and manages all aspects of retaining new catering contracts. Rich also consults with Total Turf Inc. to secure business partners for facility rentals.
Prior to his consulting roles, Rich was the Athletic Director for Valley Forge Military Academy and College from 2013 to 2020. Reporting directly to the president of the institution, Rich oversaw athletic and student activities for the college, academy (high school), and middle school including interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
While at Valley Forge, Rich managed all program coordination, budget, personnel management, and strategic planning for the athletic programs. During his tenure, he managed 21 men's and women's athletic programs in both the academy and college, leading teams to championships at both the conference and regional levels. Rich also increased institutional revenue through alumni outreach, independent fundraising, and summer camp programs on campus.
In addition, Rich served as the men's basketball head coach for three seasons at the Military Academy and College. Under his guidance, the college basketball program was ranked 17th in the country during the 2014-2015 season with a 96% graduation rate for college athletes.
Prior to Valley Forge, Rich served as athletic director at John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School in Philadelphia from 2011-2013 and as assistant athletic director at University of the Sciences from 2004-2007.
In addition to his coaching experience at Valley Forge, Rich has coached men's basketball teams at Neumann University, University of the Sciences, Rutgers University-Camden, and North Catholic High School.
Rich graduated in 1988 from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Management and has affiliations with the Philadelphia 76ers basketball camps, National Association of Basketball Coaches, and the Small College Association of Philadelphia.
Throughout Rich's accomplished career, he has been known for his dedication to students' wellbeing. He is excited to hit the ground running, and I look forward to his contributions to our campus community.
Please join me in welcoming Rich to Rosemont!
Sincerely,
Jim Cawley, Rosemont College President |
