The Rosemont Ravens (11-12, 3-4) earned a home conference victory over Clarks Summit 22-13 at Heuser Park on Friday, April 14
th. The Ravens offense scored in 6 out of their 8 at bats and collected 15 hits and 7 walks in the game. Catcher
Chris Walton and right fielder
Derek Shillingsford both had four hits and they combined for 5 runs and 7 RBI. Shillingsford had two doubles and a triple, while Walton had a double of his own. Left fielder
Jamen Palladino had a double and scored 5 times, while first baseman
Ethan Wood had a two bagger as well, scored twice, and collected two RBI of his own.
The winning pitcher for the Ravens was senior captain
Michael Denton who went 3.1 innings in relief. He entered the game in the 5
th inning with the game tied 8-8, and left in the 8
th inning with his team ahead by 6 runs. Sophomore
Zachary Nutley started on the mound, going 3.1 innings, and he struck out four batters. Fellow sophomore
Brett Angelillo pitched a scoreless 9
th inning to close out the game for Ravens.
Coach Trachtenberg said after the game: "I am extremely proud of how our team showed a high level of resilience after Clarks Summit took the lead in the 4
th inning. We stayed calm offensively and put together 8 straight quality at-bats in the bottom of that inning." Trachtenberg continued: "We had a lot of high lights offensively today, but Mike Denton was one who steadied the game for us on the mound. He steadied the game for us, as he has so many times this season, and gave our hitters a chance to get going."
The Ravens travel to Clarks Summit on Saturday, April 15
th for a double-header to close out the CSAC series. The games will be played at Schautz Stadium and Game 1 begins at 2pm.
