The Rosemont Ravens (13-12, 5-4) earned a double header sweep on the road against Clarks Summit to go 3-0 in the CSAC weekend series and 4-0 on the week. Coach Trachtenberg said after the game: "This was a great week for Rosemont Baseball. The team played through some tough conditions between the heat on Friday and the rain and lightening delays on Saturday. Individuals like
Luke Franklin and
Jamen Palladino had huge weekend performances for us offensively and having
Brage Davis back from injury at third was a big boost."
Game 1 was halted in the bottom of the 4
th due to lightening in the area. Starting pitcher
David McKinney scattered just three runs over three innings of work. After the delay,
Brett Angelillo took the mound for two innings of relief and freshman
Nick Skoufalos threw a scoreless 7
th to close out the game with the Ravens winning 24-13.
The Ravens collected 23 hits in the first game, with the middle infield duo of
Luke Franklin and captain
Colin McCormick earning 9 of them combined. Left fielder
Jamen Palladino and center fielder
Dominic Fernicola had three hits a piece and knocked in 7 runs together.
Freshman right-handed pitcher
Tim Shell took the mound in Game 2. He went 2.2 strong innings and turned the ball over to
Tyler Stremmel who recorded a huge bases loaded 2 out strike out. Pat McCallister threw two strong innings of relief and struck out two batters to set the Ravens up for an 18-7 win.
The offense was paced in Game 2 by sophomores Palladino, first baseman
Ethan Wood and
Bobby DiDonato, who each had two hits. Wood and Franklin scored four times each and Palladino knocked in four runs.
