2023 Senior Day
The Rosemont College Baseball team would like to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of our three graduating seniors. These three seniors are also the 2023 Team Captains as selected by their teammates and coaches.Â
First, please welcome second baseman
Colin McCormick. He is accompanied by his mother Lorraine McCormick and father Brian McCormick.Â
Colin came to Rosemont from Cumberland County Community College and is graduating as a Criminal Justice major. He has played in 60 games in the first two seasons of Rosemont College Baseball and has 17 career doubles hitting primarily in the number 2 spot in the line-up during this 2023 season. His current batting average of .364 is second on the team.
Congratulations to Colin on his graduation from Rosemont.
Next, please welcome Raven's centerfielder Dominic "Fern" Fernicola. Fern is accompanied by his father Paul Fernicola.
Fern played at Delaware Tech before coming to Rosemont in the fall of 2021. He is a psychology major who has made more extra base hits disappear in center field than can be recorded. He hit .320 in 18 games in 2022 and followed that performance up with a .333 average this season with 26 RBI primarily hitting in the 5-hole.Â
Congratulations to Fern on his graduation from Rosemont.
Finally, please welcome Raven's relief pitcher, Mike Denton. Mike's parents Jennifer and Mike Denton were unfortunately not able to attend today as they are home in Chicago. Mike has Fern's dog Isabella to escort him today.
Mike went to Prairie State College and is graduating with a Sport Management Degree. He is currently completing classes towards his MBA as well. Mike is also a member of Rosemont Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. On the mound, Mike has appeared in the most games in both 2022, 19 games and in 2023, 20 games. This season, he has a team best 3.86 ERA. He is the leader of the pitching staff both on and off the field.
Congratulation to Mike on his Graduation from Rosemont
These three seniors all came to Rosemont to be part of a new baseball program. They quickly became not only members of the inaugural team, but the leaders of it. They all showed their strong athletic abilities on the field, but they were also responsible for guiding our team of all first-year players through the growth process of becoming college baseball players.Â
This celebration is meant to recognize their accomplishment of graduating from Rosemont. Their college experiences as student-athletes were derailed by the pandemic. At Rosemont they each found a new home and solidified themselves as true leaders and winners both on the field and in all aspects of Rosemont College.Â
