The Ravens (2-10) lost a tough-fought battle to Ursinus (4-7) 8-7. The Ravens offense started hot scoring 2 in the first inning. Junior Connor Cook started the scoring with an RBI single scoring David McKinney. This was followed by a single from junior Samson Gerner who also delivered an RBI single scoring Cook. Other stars for Rosemont's offense come from senior Sean Smith who went 3 for 5 on the day with an RBI. Connor Cook also added another hit and 2 more RBIs to his tally giving him a stat line on the day of 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs. McKinney scored twice and had two RBI as well.
Getting the start on the mound for Rosemont was junior Brett Angelillo who delivered a solid 2 inning 2 hit performance. He also held the Bears to no runs on 2 strikeouts. Freshmen Shane Lennon relieved Angelillo and delivered another solid 2 innings for the Ravens also keeping the Bears scoreless. Graduate Student Michael Denton pitched a scoreless 8th inning keeping the Ravens within two runs going into the 9th. The Ravens scored one in the final frame but were unable to tie the game up.
Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg reflected on the game by saying: "The effort was there from our team today. We got some key two-out hits and pitched really well. We are executing things on the field now that we were not earlier in the season. It's exciting to see."
The Ravens hope to bounce back when they take on United East Conference opponent Wilson College on Friday, March 15th. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00PM at Heuser Park.
