The Ravens had a rough day at their home field against the non-conference opponent Red Dragons from SUNY-Courtland dropping both ends of the doubleheader. In Game 1, the Ravens put the ball in play, but the Red Dragons made all the plays. The Ravens' offense did produce 7 hits in total, they just lacked that timely hit to get the team on the board. The Ravens' offense was led by junior Dom Younger and sophomore Chase Masten with each totaling 2 hits apiece. Masten had 2 stolen bases as well. Other Raven hitters of note offensively were sophomore Brandon Peake and graduate student Dominic Fernicola who each totaled a hit in their efforts.
On the pitching side of things for the Ravens junior Jimmy Rodier tossed a scoreless 7th inning allowing a lone hit in the process.
In Game 2 for the Ravens, it was a much better story offensively. Unfortunately, it was not enough to outlast SUNY-Courtland. The Ravens totaled 10 hits in Game 2 and scored 10 runs in the process. The offensive showing was led by junior Samson Gerner who went 2 for 5 on the day with a double, a home run, and 3 RBIs. Juniors Nick Tanella and Thomas George also clocked in nice performances going 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 for 5 with an RBI respectively. Junior Chris Walton also had a nice day at the plate, going 2 for 5.
"We competed in spots today on offense and defense," stated Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg after the game. "Fortunately, we can learn from today and build towards a big week of Rosemont baseball with some good non-conference and a conference series next weekend."
The Ravens look to bounce back Tuesday, April 16th as they seek revenge on the Eagles from Eastern in a single 9-inning contest. The Ravens lost to the Eagles earlier in the season at Heuser Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm at Eastern University.
