Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Rosemont Ravens (11-26) celebrated the four seniors after the doubleheader against visiting Keystone College on Senior Day.
Game 1 was a close affair with the home team losing 8-7. The Ravens outhit the visiting Giants 10-7, with junior David McKinney leading the way with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Senior captain Dominic Fernicola went 2-3 with a run scored. Fellow senior outfielder Sean Smith swiped 4 bases and walked three times in the lead-off spot. This led to three runs scored for Smith.
Junior Zachary Nutley started on the mound in Game 1 and went 5.2 innings striking out 2 batters. He was relieved by Justin Harrison who completed the final 1.1 innings of the game surrendering just one run on 0 hits. Junior catcher Chris Walton recorded three caught stealing as well as he continued his stellar play behind the plate.
Senior Ethen Otstott took the mound in Game 2 and he went 3.2 innings before turning the ball over to graduate student Mike Denton, who was also recognized on Senior Day. Denton and Otstott pitched together as teammates at Prairie State College in Illinois and are now completing their college careers together. Walton added to his season total of 17 by throwing out one more would-be base stealer.
The Ravens' offense was only able to muster two hits and two runs. Junior Connor Cook collected two RBI on a single and freshman Shane Lennon had a single to go along with two walks.
Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg had this to say about the games: "We played well in spots in this final conference series, but we still have improvements to make this week in preparation for our first playoff appearance." Trachtenberg continued: "Today was also about recognizing the significant contributions of four outstanding young men who have made such an incredibly positive impact on our young baseball program. Sean, Ethen, Mike, and Fern played great today as they have throughout their careers at Rosemont." The comments shared about the senior during the post-game celebration are posted below.
The Ravens set their focus on the United East Playoffs which will begin on Friday, May 3^rd at the top seed Keystone College.
