In Game 1, the Ravens beat PSU-York 7-3
The Rosemont Ravens played host to Penn State-York on Sunday, February 23rd at Upper Merion High School's new turf field.
Junior Jack Lally got his first career start on the mound as a Raven in Game 1. He struck out 6 batters in 4 innings. Fellow junior Lars Greenlee threw a shutout 5th inning and sophomore Shane Lennon closed out the last two innings for the Ravens, striking out 2.
Offensively, the Ravens got it started early as David McKinney had a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, scoring Jamen Palladino and Luke Franklin. In the second inning, Palladino had an RBI single scoring Chase Masten. Designated hitter Samson Gerner led off the third inning with a walk and promptly stole 2nd and 3rd. Gerner was able to score on the overthrow to third giving the Ravens a 4-0 lead. Later in the third, senior catcher Christopher Walton had a sac fly to extend the lead to 5-0. The Ravens would continue to tally on in the 4th and 5th, making it a 7-2 ball game.
In Game 2, the Ravens beat PSU-York 4-1
Junior Tim Shell got the start on the bump in Game 2. He surrendered 1 run on 3 hits and struck out two batters in 5 innings. Fellow junior Nicholas Skoufalos got his first save of the season striking out one in 2 innings to close out the game.
Offensively the Ravens had 7 hits in the game with freshman Collin McCarron getting his first career hit, a single to right field. Penn State-York went up early by plating a run in the top of 2nd, but that did not stop Nick Tanella. In the bottom of the 2nd, Tanella had an RBI single tying the game at one. In the bottom of the third, Gerner took home on a bad pickoff attempt giving the Ravens the lead. In the 4th and the 5th, the Ravens would tally on two more runs a balk and a walk earned by Tanella giving him his second RBI of the day.
Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg stated after the game: "I am proud of how our team responded today after dropping two games yesterday. The team played great defense. We had 6 different outfielders all play at a high level and 5 pitchers took the mound and only gave up 4 runs in 14 innings. Additionally, our Junior Varsity team play a double header today. Playing six games in two days is a testament to the depth of our program and is just an exciting weekend for our players.

Gerner had 3 hits on the day, a walk, and 2 stolen bases. Franklin had 2 hits on the day, 3 walks, and a stolen base. Palladino had 2 hits and 2 RBIs on the day. McKinney had 2 RBIs, a hit, and a walk in Game 1. Walton had 2 hits, an RBI, and 2 walks on the day, while catching all 14 innings. Lastly, Tanella had a hit, 2 RBIs, and a walk in Game 2.
Up next
The Ravens head south to Aberdeen, Maryland to take on Mount Saint Mary College (NY) in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 1st, at 12pm. Those games will be played at the Ripken Complex. The team then travels to Stevenson University on Sunday, March 2nd for a Varsity/Junior Varsity doubleheader also starting at noon.
