The Ravens beat the Knights in game 1, 4-2
Led by senior RHP Zachary Nutley, the Ravens allowed just 2 runs in the 7 inning game. Nutley went 6 innings, struck out 1, and gave up 2 runs. Fellow senior Brett Angelillo was awarded the save, shutting down the 7th with a 1, 2, 3 inning with two strikeouts.
Offensively, the Ravens were out in front early. After two innings of play, the Ravens were up 1-0 due to David McKinney scoring on a pass ball after he earned his way on base with a single to lead off the inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Ravens would add onto their lead. Samson Gerner had an RBI single, followed by a 2RBI single by McKinney giving the Ravens a 4-0 lead.
Assistant Coach Joe Tremoglie said after the game: "I was really happy to see Zach Nutley go deep into the game for us, throwing 6 solid innings to pick up a win he definitely deserved."
He continued: "I also want to congratulate Samson Gerner on picking up his 100th hit and achieving the first significant milestone in Rosemont baseball history. He has been the most consistent hitter I have seen in the three years I have been here and deserves the honor of becoming the first player to ever reach 100 hits."
Gerner became the first person in program history to have 100 hits in their career. He had this to say after the game, "It was a surreal feeling. I am grateful that I was able to experience getting my 100th hit in front of my family and friends."
Starting pitcher Zach Nutley shared this as well after the game: "We battled hard, and I just focused on giving my team a chance to win. Six strong innings, but this was a team effort all the way. Proud of the guys!"
The Ravens lost game 2 10-7
Junior RHP Tim Shell started on the bump for the Ravens in Game 2. Shell went 4 innings, giving up 4 (3 earned) and striking out 1. Justin Harrison started the 5th inning in relief giving up 4 runs (2 earned) and struck out 1. Shane Lennon went 1.2 innings for the Ravens, giving up 2 while striking out 2. Lastly, Nick Fratangeli made his varsity debut, going 0.1 innings to close out the 7th.
Offensively, the Ravens put it together in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings, as they put up 7 runs in those three frames. In the bottom of the 4th, Nick Vitale scored on a wild pitch to make it a 4-1 ball game. In the bottom of the 5th, it would be Vitale again, but this time with his bat. His 2 RBI single cut the lead down to 5-3. Freshman Collin McCarron would score on another wild pitch, cutting the lead to one. In the bottom of the 6th, the Ravens would answer back yet again, as Gerner had an RBI double to make the score 8-5. McKinney would keep the bats rolling with an RBI triple making the score 8-6. Lastly, Senior outfielder Connor Cook had an RBI single to make it an 8-7 game.
Senior David McKinney shared after the game that: "The boys kept playing hard and that's all we can ask for. Proud of everyone for giving their all. There's no doubt we'll continue to persevere and keep moving forward."
Sophomore outfielder Nick Vitale finished his first start of the season with two hits, two RBI and 2 stolen bases. He stated: "I thought we fought hard and competed well throughout the day."

The Ravens play next at Heuser Park on Saturday, March 8th at 12:00pm. They take on St. Joseph's University Brooklyn in a double header. Before that date though, the Junior Varsity team will travel to Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester on Tuesday, March 4th for a 2:30pm contest.
