Exciting Match Featuring Javitt Sisters Tops Off Match against Cavaliers

ROSEMONT, Pa. – Today's CSAC match pitting the visiting Cabrini Cavaliers (7-6 (6-3 CSAC) vs. the Rosemont Ravens (1-11, 1-8 CSAC) in women's tennis was decided after the Cavaliers swept the doubles to take a 3-0 match point lead and then winning five of the six remaining singles matches to go up to an insurmountable 8-0 lead. That left one more match to be played.

An interesting point about the final match, though, is that in the #2 singles flight, sisters Emily and Maggie Javitt were facing each other for the final time in their collegiate playing careers. Cabrini's Maggie Javitt won the first set, 6-4, putting pressure on Rosemont's Emily Javitt to take the second set to stay alive.

Emily did just that, winning the second set 6-4 and setting up a tie-breaker with the first player to reach 10 points winning the match. Maggie took an 8-5 lead before Emily rebounded to win the next two points to re-tie the match. Emily continued to apply pressure, winning the final two points and winning the tie-breaker and the match, 10-8.

The Ravens will wrap up their season tomorrow when they will face the Immaculata Mighty Macs in a CSAC match slated for a 12:00pm start.
