Ravens Defeat Giants for First Win of Season

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Rosemont Ravens women's tennis team faced a depleted Keystone Giants squad this morning, and defeated the visiting Giants by a final score of 7-2. The teams managed to complete the match before the rains came, with the Ravens earning their first win of the season. Rosemont's record is now 1-10 overall (1-7 CSAC) while Keystone fell to 1-8 overall (1-6 CSAC).

The win was the first for Head Coach Kirsten Sanford since she took over the reins of the program last season.

Starting with the doubles competition, the Rosemont team of Julianna Capece and Charli Fillmore fought the Giants in a tough contest, but lost the #1 flight in a tie-breaker, 8-8 (7-3). The Ravens won the #2 and #3 doubles matches by default.

The Ravens claimed wins in the #2 and #3 singles flights, where Emily Javitt won in straight love sets (6-0, 6-0), and Charli Fillmore won her match handily (6-1, 6-0). Rosemont won the #4, #5, and #6 singles flights by default.

After a busy schedule over the last few weeks, the Ravens will be able to rest up before their next match, when they will host the Cabrini Cavaliers in a CSAC match on Friday, 10/14 at 3:30pm.
