Box Score Hackettstown, New Jersey- The men' soccer team faced off against the #1 seeded Centenary Cyclones on Saturday afternoon and tied with Centenary 1-1 before advancing on PKS 4-2.
The score was tied 1-1 heading into overtime. Neither team was able to score after two overtimes, and the game was decided by penalty kicks.
Rosemont took an early 1-0 lead at the 15:06 mark with a goal scored by
Josh Dawicki and assisted by
Alex Mowry. The Ravens played great defense in the first half and senior goalie,
Grant Gonzalez had eight saves to propel the Ravens in the first half. Coming out of halftime, Centenary scored at the 47:55 mark to tie the game 1-1.
During the first overtime, Rosemont had two good shots but weren't able to convert. In the second overtime, Centenary had two chances to score, but
Grant Gonzalez had two impressive saves. Gonzalez finished with 14 saves, which breaks a Rosemont record for saves in a CSAC tournament game. The game was decided by penalty kicks.
Will Boehmer started out the penalty kicks with a make. The Cyclones made their first attempt.
Josh Dawicki made the second attempt for Rosemont. The Cyclones could not convert on their next attempt after yet another save from Gonzalez. Josh Lesssig would make the third attempt for Rosemont. The Cyclones could not convert on their third attempt, so Rosemont had a 3-1 advantage.
Alioune Sy would make the final attempt for Rosemont to lead them to victory.Â
The Rosemont men's soccer team will advance to the CSAC finals for the first time since 2012. They will take on Keystone College next Saturday, November 9
th.
