2021 Men's Soccer Champions

The 2021 season was one to remember for Rosemont College, as the Ravens' Men's Soccer team captured their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship, consequently earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Finishing with a 12–4–1 overall record, Rosemont emerged as the conference's most complete team, peaking at exactly the right time to secure the title on their home field. The Ravens were led by Coach John Loiodice, who was named Head Coach in January of 2021. Previously having worked at Rowan, he brought to Rosemont an emphasis on high pressure, quick transitions, and relentless attacking movement. That identity became the backbone of a season defined by offensive consistency and a deep, versatile roster capable of producing goals from multiple positions. They were also led by assistant coaches Nick Hanuscin, Ryan Dudek, Zach Peterson, and Anthony Tarsatana. The Ravens outscored their opponents 61-27 on the year, with an average of 3.39 goals per game. They also assisted on 50 of their 61 goals, an incredible ratio and feat.

Central to the Ravens' success was a historic campaign from forward Kaiden Fields, whose goal-scoring prowess rewrote the program record book. Fields tallied 17 goals and 42 points on the season, earning CSAC Player of the Year honors while consistently delivering in crucial moments. His ability to create chances and finish under pressure made him one of the most dangerous attacking players in the conference. Yet Rosemont's strength extended well beyond a single star. Clayton Crosse added 11 goals, providing a reliable secondary scoring option, while Sean Milelli contributed eight goals in limited appearances, showcasing remarkable efficiency. This depth ensured that opposing defenses could not key in on any one player, making the Ravens' attack both unpredictable and difficult to contain.

The early portion of the season offered a glimpse of both the team's potential, along with its growing pains. Tough nonconference losses tested the Ravens, but they quickly responded with convincing victories, including a 3–0 win over King's (N.Y.) and a 3–1 result against Saint Vincent. Those matches helped establish rhythm and confidence, setting the stage for a dominant midseason stretch. By mid-September, Rosemont had found its stride. The Ravens overwhelmed opponents with explosive scoring performances, highlighted by a 6–1 dismantling of Gwynedd Mercy and a 5–1 victory over Albright. As conference play began, Rosemont wasted little time asserting itself as a title contender. After a hard-fought 1–1 draw with Cairn, the team surged ahead with statement wins over Wilson, Valley Forge, Keystone, and Bryn Athyn, steadily climbing to the top of the CSAC standings. The Ravens' late-season form left little doubt about their championship aspirations. A 7–1 rout of Saint Elizabeth and a 4–0 shutout against Clarks Summit to close the regular season secured the conference's top seed and underscored the team's balance on both ends of the field. With momentum firmly on their side, Rosemont entered the postseason as the team to beat.

Postseason Recap

In the CSAC Tournament, Rosemont validated its regular-season dominance. Facing Saint Elizabeth in the semifinal, the Ravens controlled the tempo and delivered a 4–2 victory behind another strong offensive showing. Kaiden Fields led with a hat trick, while Clayton Crosse added an assist and a goal that was assisted by none other than Kaiden Fields. The Rosemont defense held St. Elizabeth to just three shots the entire game, which is just a microcosm of how dominant they were all year. This win advanced them to the championship match, where they would meet Cairn with the conference title on the line.

On championship day, Rosemont delivered its most complete performance of the season. Combining disciplined defending with clinical finishing, the Ravens secured a 3–0 shutout victory to claim the CSAC crown. Fields once again rose to the occasion, earning Championship MVP honors and punctuating his remarkable season with a signature performance. He had the game-sealing goal in the 72nd minute, however, he had assistance from star teammate Clayton Crosse, who showed up big time with two goals in the biggest stage of his life. The victory not only secured the conference title but also cemented the 2021 squad's place among the most accomplished teams in program history. With a potent offense, cohesive team play, and a clear tactical identity, the Ravens transformed a promising season into a championship run.

In the end, the 2021 Rosemont Men's Soccer team will be remembered not just for its results, but for the way it achieved them. With Fields at the forefront, Rosemont had a balanced attack, combining fierce offense with suffocating defense.
