Baseball teams up with LMLL for Challenger Day

The Rosemont College Baseball Program teamed up with Lower Merion Little League's Challenger Division for an afternoon of fun on the diamond at South Ardmore Park. The Ravens, along with Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg and his daughter Claire, partnered with the Challenger players on Sunday, November 3rd, just as they did last fall.

"The Little League Challenger Division® was founded in 1989, and is Little League's adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges." (Little League)

Coach Trachtenberg had this to say about the event: "This second installment of Challenger Day for our program marks an important tradition for our Baseball Program to maintain and develop. This is such a positive experience for our Rosemont players in addition to the players from the Lower Merion Little League Challenger Division.

Coach Trachtenberg continued: "I want to sincerely thank the 18 players who gave of their time to be on the field today. They are true examples of what Rosemont College Baseball is all about." The players present were (seniors) Jamen Palladino, Dominic Younger, Giuseppe Bentrovato, Bobby DiDonato, Tyler Monzo, Jack Woods, (juniors) Tim Shell, Jack Lally, Brandon Peake, Ryan Bowman, Chase Masten, and (freshmen) Anthony Galli, Andrew Klitsch, Nick Fratangeli, Sam Harrison, Jayden Rodriguez, Chris Paulino, and Evan Wollman.

Senior pitcher for the Ravens, Guiseppe Bentrovato shared his thoughts on the event: "I really enjoy this day as a celebration of each individual, and the love of the game seen on the field."

Freshman outfielder Evan Wollman had this to say: "I think that doing this event is a good thing for the community to connect and just to see all the smiles and laughter from the players. It was a great way to show the community that we care and a great way to connect with people. The players who participated had so much fun and the number of smiles that were shown were very heartwarming."

Finally, Lower Merion Little League President Wally Orlov shared his thoughts as well: "Lower Merion Little League is so fortunate to have built a deep and meaningful partnership with the Rosemont Ravens baseball team. Lead by Coach Ross, the team has successfully run training sessions with 50-100 of our players this Fall, and most recently showed up in force to work with 30 of our special needs players.  Huge thanks for a fun and wonderful afternoon between the Ravens and the LMLL Challenger baseball kids!"

This Challenger Day concludes the Ravens Fall Community Outreach program which included this event and volunteering at the Upper Merion Fall Festival, along with running youth baseball clinics for Lower Merion Little League and aiding with a student move-in day at Drexel University.
