2023 Men's Lacrosse Champions

The 2023 season was a historic breakthrough for the Rosemont College Men's Lacrosse Program, as the Ravens captured their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship and established themselves as the dominant team in the league. Despite finishing with a modest 6–9 overall record, Rosemont was flawless in conference play, going 6–0 and leading the CSAC in both scoring offense (18.0 goals per game) and overall points per game. What made the season particularly impressive was the team's ability to peak at the right time—transforming early-season struggles into a cohesive, high-powered unit once conference play began.

At the center of Rosemont's success was a dynamic offensive core led by graduate midfielder Mason Dennis, who earned CSAC Player of the Year honors. Dennis was one of the most complete players in the conference, finishing the season with 35 goals, 26 assists, and 61 points while also contributing 94 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers, showcasing his two-way dominance. He was complemented by one of the most productive attackers in the league, Liam O'Connor, who led the team with 48 goals on an efficient 42.5% shooting percentage. Stephen McLaughlin added another 33 goals and 13 assists, providing a consistent scoring threat, while Navarro Blakes functioned as the team's primary facilitator, tallying an impressive 67 assists to go along with 19 goals for a team-high 86 points. In goal, Andrew "Juice" Menold anchored the defense, recording 218 saves over the season and delivering key performances during the postseason. Together, this core formed one of the most balanced and explosive offenses in the conference.

Rosemont's postseason run showcased their growth and dominance. Entering the CSAC Tournament as the top seed, the Ravens carried momentum from a dominant regular-season stretch that included wins like a 21–8 victory over Keystone leading into the playoffs. In the semifinal round, Rosemont faced Keystone once again and delivered one of their most complete performances of the year, overwhelming their opponent with offensive firepower and defensive pressure. The Ravens controlled possession, forced turnovers, and capitalized in transition, advancing comfortably to the championship game while reinforcing their status as the conference's top team.

The CSAC Championship game against Cairn provided a much tougher test and ultimately became the defining moment of the season. Rosemont jumped out to an early lead, scoring four goals in the first quarter and setting the tone with aggressive offense and strong midfield play. However, Cairn responded in the second and third quarters, turning the game into a physical, back-and-forth battle. Rosemont's ability to maintain composure proved crucial, as they capitalized on turnovers and executed efficiently in extra-man opportunities. In the final quarter, the Ravens pulled away with five goals to secure a 15–12 victory and the conference title. Stephen McLaughlin led the way with six goals, while Mason Dennis added four goals and was named Championship MVP for his all-around performance. Liam O'Connor contributed three goals, and Menold made 10 saves in net to help preserve the win. The victory not only secured the CSAC Championship but also marked the first title in program history.

Beyond the players, Rosemont's coaching staff played a critical role in the team's success. Head Coach Ernie Shapiro emphasized resilience and unity throughout the season, guiding the team through early adversity and fostering a culture of accountability and hard work. His ability to make adjustments—particularly in tightening defensive schemes and maximizing the team's transition offense—was evident during the conference schedule and postseason run. The coaching staff also empowered leaders like Dennis and Blakes to take control on the field, creating a player-driven system that thrived under pressure. Shapiro himself highlighted the team's collective effort, noting that the players "rallied around each other all year" en route to the championship.

Although Rosemont's season concluded with a loss to New England College in the CSAC-NECC crossover game for an NCAA Tournament bid, the 2023 campaign remains a landmark achievement. It was the first and only Rosemont Men's Lacrosse Championship, and showed true resilience throughout the year.
