Rosemont SB Splits Home Opener with Gwynedd Mercy, 9-2 W, 6-7 L

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Game 1:

Analisa Yoder was bad news for opposing pitchers in Friday's Home Opener, driving in five on three hits to lead Rosemont past Gwynedd Mercy 9-2 in game 1.  The 3-yr Captain went 3 for 3 with a walk and drove in 5 runs with a single in the first, a homer in the second, and a double in the sixth.

Rosemont scored on a triple by Lauren Begg and a pair of singles by Yoder and Allison Goodman in the first inning.  Yoder flexed and crushed a 3-Run Jack to left center in the second (the game-winning hit and RBI).  Rosemont's big bats produced a series of doubles in the sixth by Yoder, Goodman, and Emily Bingman as the Ravens tacked on 3 more to take a 9-2 lead.

"Lo" Begg led things off in the circle for Rosemont going four innings, allowing one run on seven hits, striking out two and walking one.  Jocelyn Baumeister started for Gwynedd and lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out three.  Ally McDaid threw two innings in relief.

Rosemont racked up 12 hits and 9 runs.  Yoder, Kendyll Strohl, Bingman, Begg, and Goodman all managed multiple hits for Rosemont.  Strohl and Yoder each managed three hits to lead the Ravens.  Jade Gomez-Chavarria led the Ravens with three stolen bases.  And the Ravens ran wild on the base paths tallying eight stolen bases.  Ravens 9, Griffins 2.

Game 2:

Friday's second game was a heartbreaking 6-7 loss.  Captain Dani Sharpe was on the rubber for Rosemont .  She allowed eight hits and four runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one.

Gwynedd Mercy was down 6-4 in the top of the seventh. The Griffins loaded the bases off a walk and two singles with two outs when an error allowed three runs to score.  Rosemont left seven runners on base and missed the opportunity to salvage the win in the bottom of the inning leaving Lauren Begg (.750 avg: 3 for 4, 2Rs, 1 RBI, 1 SB) stranded in scoring position for second time in 3 innings. Closer, Myora Slaughter threw one inning in relief and took the loss.  Ravens 6, Griffins 7.

Next up:

The Ravens (4-6) travel to Rowan (#21 nationally) on Wednesday for an early non-conference DH.  2:30/4:30 start.
