Game 1:
All-CSAC nominee, Sr.
Lauren Begg (8-8) started and went 2 for 3, stole two more bags, and closed out game in the circle, taking the loss. The only other Raven to get on base was
Jade Gomez-Chavarria. The Cavs Sr. Avery Byrnes pitched a shutout. Ravens 0, Cavaliers, 4.
Game 2:
All-CSAC nominee and 2-yr Captain, Sr.
Dani Sharpe (9-5) started game two and threw extremely well for 8 complete innings. The Ravens scored in the second to take a 1-0 lead. The Cavs answered in the top half of the third to give Cabrini a 4-1 lead. The Ravens responded in the bottom half of the third.
Jade Gomez-Chavarria was hit by a pitch and stole 2
nd.
Lauren Begg singled up the middle and the Ravens had a 1
st and third. Begg stole second with
Olivia Hamme in the box. Hamme drew a walk setting the bases loaded for
Emily Bingman. The 2-yr Captain delivered a 2-run RBI to draw within one after three. Sharpe made short work of the Cavs and the Ravens defense played clean behind her.
The Ravens found themselves down a run in the bottom of the seventh: Once again,
Jade Gomez-Chavarria was hit by a pitch and promptly stole second.
Tianna Ortiz drew a walk on 4 pitches, paving the way for CSAC Hits Leader, Lo Begg. Begg worked deep into the count and slapped a crisp double to the gap in left center scoring Gomez-Chavarria and moving Ortiz to 3
rd, tying the game.
Kendyll Strohl drew a walk to load up the bases again but Cavs brought Andrews back in to pitch and she got Sharpe to ground back to the pitcher to get out of the inning.
The game went to International Tie-Break (ITB). The Cavs promptly put two runners on after a pair of singles loading up the bases with no outs. Sharpe, well she was "as cool as the other side of the pillow" (R.I.P. S. Scott, ESPN). She induced three infield pop-ups to emerge without a scratch.
ITB continued to the bottom of the inning, starting with Sharpe on second as the last out made in the previous inning. Sr.
Mia Viola came in to pinch run for Sharpe. She advanced to third on a wild pitch with 0 outs. Soph.,
Kylee Kubitschek, stepped in to the box with the infield in close to prevent the run from scoring. With a Cheshire-Cat grin and steady hands, she immediately slapped the walk-off single up the middle. Kubitschek delivered, Viola scored, Sharpe goes 8 complete, and the Ravens walk-off in ITB, 4-5. It is the first time in 14 years that a Rosemont SB team beat a Cabrini University softball team.
Rosemont (16-14, 10-2 CSAC) travels to Clarks Summit (11-19, 3-9 CSAC) on Thursday, April 27 to continue conference play into the final w.e. of the season.
