Rosemont Softball Travels to Myrtle Beach to Compete in Fastpitch Dreams Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 4 NMB Sports Complex, Myrtle Beach, S.C | The Rosemont Ravens Softball Program Traveled to Myrtle Beack to Play in the Fastpitch Dreams Softball Tournament Where They Competed in Six Games.

How it Happened: 

Monday, March 3rd:

Game 1:
The Ravens took on Chestnut Hill College for their first game of the season as #12 Josie Krieman started pitching for the Ravens. 
Krieman would get through the first inning scoreless before the Griffins would have a big second inning as six of the seven runs were unearned for Krieman. #21 Kendyll Strohl would have two doubles in the contest, driving in the Ravens only run in the bottom of the third bringing home Maria Harrison. The Ravens would fall in game one to the Griffins 9-1 after five innings.

Game 2: #7 Alicia Gotts would start on the mound for the second game as the Ravens took on Wilkes University. 
Gotts would have a strong start holding Wilkes to only two runs through the first two innings allowing the Ravens to build a lead in the top of the second inning. #24 Olivia Hamme and #18 Bailee Greice would find singles back to back bringing up #4 MyLayna Blanco who drew a walk to load the bases for the Ravens. Hamme would score on a wild pitch moving the runners over as #12 Jossie Krieman walked to keep the bases loaded. #21 Kendyll Strohl would reach on a fielders choice as two runs would score on a throwing error. Maria Harrison would drive a double into the outfield gap as Strohl scored to give the Ravens a 4-2 lead after two innings. Wilkes would respond in the bottom of the third recapturing the lead 4-5. The top of the fourth, Krieman would lead off with a single followed by Kendyll Strohl who would reach on hit by pitch to put runners on the corners for Maria Harrison. Harrison would reach on a single scoring Krieman tying the contest 5-5. #11 Rose Chando would ground out to first scoring Strohl as the Ravens took a 6-5 lead entering the bottom of the fourth. Wilkes would score nine unanswered runs to end the contest as the Ravens fell to the Colenols 6-14.

Tuesday, March 4th:

Game 3: #14 Emilee Dickenson would get the start for the Ravens as they took on the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist. 
Through the first two innings, The Ravens were tied with the Pioneers 0-0. The top of the thrid Dickenson would lead off the inning with a walk, but was able to get out of the inning with minimal damage after a defensive error. The Ravens trailed 0-1 after three innings. Top of the fourth the Pioneers found a groove as they would score six runs in the inning. Coach Viola would turn to #12 Josie Krieman with two outs, she would come in and get out of the inning as the Ravens now trailed 0-7. Krieman would pitch well only allowing one run in her 3.1 innings pitched, but the Ravens offense was not able to get anything going as they fell to the Pioneers 0-8.

Game 4: The Ravens took on Baruch College as #12 Josie Krieman would get the start for the Ravens. 

Krieman would start the top of the first with three strikeouts and striking out the next two batters in the top of the second inning. The bottom of the second Alicia Gotts would lead off with a single, stealing 2nd and 3rd. Rose Chando would double driving home Gotts for the Ravens first run. MyLayna Blanco would ground out scoring Chando giving the Ravens a 2-0 advantage at the end of the second inning. Krieman would tally her sixth strikeout in the top of the third as the Ravens continued to hold the Bearcats scoreless. Kendyll Strohl would lead off the bottoms of the third inning with a triple, followed by a single by Emilee Dickenson to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead after the third. Top of the fourth the Bearcats would get to Krieman as they would score three runs in the inning tying up the contest. The Ravens would respond in the bottom of the as Mylayna Blanco would reach on an error followed by a walk by Josie Krieman. Kendyll Strohl would walk to load the bases bring up Maria Harrison reached on a fielders choice. Emilee Dickenson would double to drive in two runs, as Olivia Hamme reached on an error to drive in another two runs for the Ravens giving them a 7-3 lead after four innings. Baruch would respond in the top of the fifth scoring two runs on four hits in the inning. Baruch would score another run in the top of the sixth to bring the game within one run 7-6. The Ravens would hold onto this lead to secure their first victory of the season over the Bearcats 7-6.

Wednesday, March 5th: The Ravens were slated to play two games, The first versus Wayneburg University and the second Grove City College but these games had to be canceled due to rain.

Friday, March 7th: The Ravens were back in action on Friday for their final two games of Rosemont Softballs spring break trip. 

Game 5: The Rosemont Ravens took on Cedar Crest College as Josie Krieman would get her third start of the year. 
Top of the first inning Kendyll Strohl would reach on a hit by pitch, Emilee Dickenson would hit a double into the outfield gap driving home Strohl to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead. The bottom of the inning Cedar Crest would respond with a run of their own to tie up the game. Bottom of the second, Cedar Crest would score three more runs as the Ravens trailed 1-4. The Rosemont offense was unable to gain momentum until the top of the fifth inning as  MyLayna Blanco led off with a walk followed by a single by Josie Krieman. Kendyll Strohl would single driving home Blanco for the Ravens second run of the game. Emilee Dickenson would ground out driving in Krieman for the Ravens third run followed by a double by Alicia Gotts scoring Strohl for the Ravens fourth run. This rally was not enough as the Ravens fell to Cedar Crest College after five innings 4-12.

Game 6: The Ravens took on Hilbert College for the final game of their Myrtle Beach trip. Alicia Gotts would get the ball for the Ravens to start the game. 
Hilbert College came out on fire as they would score two runs in the bottom of the first, followed by another two runs in the bottom of the second. The Ravens would have opportunities to score in the second and third inning but would leave two runners on base to end both innings. Hilbert would add onto their lead in the bottom of the third extending their lead 0-6 over the Ravens. Rosemont would break through in the top of the fifth inning as Mylayna Blanco drew a walk to get on base before Maria Harrison would triple scoring Blanco. The Ravens would fall to Hilbert College 1-10.

The Ravens Traveled back to Bryn Mawr on Saturday 3/8. They are slated to open up their season at home versus Eastern University on Tueday 3/11. Go Ravens!
