Box Score 2 Ravens Win Game 1 10-4
Senior Zachary Nutley took to mound for the Ravens, tossing 6 innings, striking out 6, and allowing 2 earned runs. Jack Lally came in for the save with 3 innings of relief. Lally had 2k's while allowing 0 runs.
Senior Zachary Nutley recorded his 100th career strikeout. This is what he had to say after the game, "Glad I could help the team get the win today."
Head Coach Ross Trachtenberg had this to say about Nutley: "Zach has been our most consistent pitcher in our program over four years. He takes the mound with the single goal of giving his team the chance to win. He did that today, just as he has done so many times over his career."
Offensively, the Ravens tallied 13 hits in the game. After a slow start, the Ravens were able to tie the game at 4 in the top of the 5th. Shane Lennon started off the inning with a walk, followed by a bunt single by Samson Gerner. Chris Walton had a bunt of his own to load the bases. A couple of batters later, Brandon Peake had a 2 RBI double to make it a 4-2 game. Luke Franklin had a sacrifice fly in the next at bat to make it a 4-3 game. Lastly, Jamen Palladino had an RBI single to tie the game at 4.
In the top of the 7th, Franklin scored Peake on an error to the third baseman, giving the Ravens a 5-4 lead. In the 8th, Lennon had an RBI single of his own scoring David McKinney to give to Ravens a 6-4 lead. The top of the 9th was a big inning as the Ravens extended their lead to 10. McKinney had a 2 RBI double along with a 2 RBI single from Gerner.
Ravens Lose Game 2 13-7
Tim Shell started on the mound for the Ravens going 3.1 innings. Nick Vitale came out of relief going 0.2 innings. Justin Harrison went 3 strong innings of relief for the Ravens. Lastly, Chase Masten came in to relieve the 8th.
Offensively, the Ravens managed to tally 9 baserunners despite only having 4 hits. It took the Ravens until the top of the 4th to get some runs across the plate as they exploded with 5. Bobby DiDonato led off the inning with a walk. After that, Palladino reached base by a HBP, and then Lennon drew a walk. Gerner then had a bases clearing double driving in 3 runs to make it a 6-3 game. Walton was hit by a pitch, followed by a Peake 2 RBI single shortly after. In the top of the 5th, the Ravens would score their last two runs of the game, thanks to a McKinney RBI single, and a Lennon sacrifice fly.
The Ravens host St. Mary's of Maryland on Tuesday, April 22nd at Heuser Park. The 3pm United East Conference game will be the final regular season home game of the season.
